Flood Damage Reporting for Residents and Businesses Impacted by the July 29 Storm
As we continue to clean up, repair damage, and recover from the historic storm, we want residents and business owners to be aware of an important resource available to them. New York State’s Individual Assistance Self-Reporting Tool (link below) provides a way to document and report flood-related damage, helping state officials understand the full impact of the storm on Coeymans and Ravena.
This online tool allows residents and businesses to document damage to homes, buildings, property, and other assets. The information collected will help New York State evaluate the full impact of the storm and determine whether our region may qualify for state or federal disaster assistance.
Submitting a report does not guarantee that financial assistance will become available. However, complete and accurate reporting is essential. Even damage that appears minor, has already been cleaned up, or repaired should still be reported.
The Town is separately documenting damage to roads, culverts, public facilities, parks, sidewalks, equipment, and other municipal property. We are also recording the personnel hours, vehicles, machinery, and other resources used during the response and recovery effort.
At this time, no formal disaster declaration has been issued. Residents and businesses should photograph all damage, save repair and cleanup receipts, and maintain records of damaged property and other storm-related expenses.
The more complete the reporting is, the better state officials can understand the true extent of the damage caused by this storm.
